Meet the Team

The HCL Bank House team is made up of eight advisers including both mortgage and investment advisers, supported by a team of a further six professionals including a Paraplanner, Administration Staff, a Compliance Officer and a Finance Director.

David Hipkiss, Director

David graduated from The Welsh College of Music and Drama and worked as a teacher for five years. He began his financial services career in 1986 when he joined Pearl Assurance, where he reached management level before starting his own business with Tony Lea in 1993. David specialises in all areas of Financial Planning, making him the most experienced member of the advisory team, holding the Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS).

Tony Lea, Director

Tony gained a mathematics degree at Cambridge and spent the first seven years of his career in banking and finance before changing course to become an adviser. Tony’s role at HCL includes managing both client relationships and the advisory team and also takes the lead in shaping the direction of the business. Tony holds the Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS). When not advising, Tony is a lover of all sports, having played First Class Cricket at Cambridge. He is also a Founder and Trustee of Sporting Minds UK, a charity devoted to assisting young sports-men and -women with their mental health stemming from the extreme pressure of professional sports. Ben Michell, Finance Director

Ben joined in 2006 as an Operations Manager before progressing to Finance Director of HCL Bank House. A keen golfer, Ben manages the company’s finances and also the day-to-day running of the business. Ben has 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry working initially in banking and insurance and is himself a fully qualified financial adviser. In 2019, Ben acquired an interest in the company along with his colleague, Sam.

Sam Brueton, Director

Sam graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in International Business and Modern Languages (German) from Aston University, Birmingham. Upon graduation in 2017, he joined the team and has since progressed to Director, having also acquired an interest in the company in the latter stages of 2019 with Ben Michell. He holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS). Sam will be moving towards achieving the Advanced Diploma in order to gain Chartered Financial Planner status over the coming years. In his spare time, Sam is a huge football fan and is a season ticket holder at Wolves.

Cameron Fox, Financial Adviser

Cameron joined HCL in April 2019 and is our newest member of the team. Cameron completed his Diploma in Financial Planning (DipFA) in November 2019. Cameron moved to the UK from South Africa in 2000 to play cricket in the Birmingham cricket league and still enjoys playing cricket and rugby. In his spare time, he also likes to travel and has an interest in photography.

Lynn Hyde, Financial Adviser

Lynn joined as an adviser in April 2004. She started her adviser career in April 1994 with CIS (Cooperative Insurance Society Ltd) and is an experienced adviser with over 24 years’ worth of knowledge. Lynn’s interest include going to the theatre, swim and listen to music but her favourite pastime is spending time with her Grandson.

Jonathan Day, Financial Adviser

Jonathan has 35 years experience in financial services, starting at Pearl Assurance and then moving to Prudential. He then worked for Birmingham Midshires and then moved to Woolwich to became an IFA. He specialises in investment advice and pension planning. Jonathan is a keen sportsman having played football to southern league level and a keen cricketer having played 2nd XI cricket for Northamptonshire and Worcestershire. He is also a keen golfer and plays to handicap of 6.

Helen Spence, Financial Adviser

Helen has 40 years in financial services joining Standard Life in 1978 then Scottish Amicable in 1984. Helen became self-employed in 2000 and joined in 2012. Helen enjoys equestrian events, walking and cake decorating and supporting her local teams in rugby, football and tennis.

Keith Whittaker, Financial Adviser

Keith has been in financial services since September 1990 where he worked for the Co-operative Insurance Society Ltd. Keith joined the team in 2007. Keith enjoys football, rugby and walking but he especially likes spending time with his Grandchildren.

Richard Harris, Financial Adviser

Richard joined HCL Bank House in December 2018. Richard started with HCL Bank House as an experienced Paraplanner, providing technical research for Advisers and maintaining relationships with clients. Richard has recently completed the CII Diploma in Financial Regulated Planning (DipPFS) qualification and has progressed into the position of Financial Adviser. Richard is a self-taught drummer and has been playing for the past 14 years.

Sarah Reynolds, Client Relations Manager / Business Development

Sarah came on board in August 2016. Sarah’s role is to be one of the first point of contact with clients at HCL Bank House, primarily in the Stafford Office, and to organize promotional events for existing clients and new business opportunities. Sarah graduated with a BA(Hons) degree in Business Administration with German and her background has been in sales and marketing. Sarah is also a member of the Society of Will Writers and is qualified to write Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts and Estate Planning, which she carries on as her own stand-alone business. Sarah is a keen runner and is a member of the Stone Master Marathoners running group.

Becky Piwowarczyk, Paraplanner / Office Administrator

Becky joined HCL in 2004. Becky’s role is to deal with enquiries from clients, collecting all the information ready for client annual reviews and assisting in the administration of new and ongoing solutions. Becky is qualified to CF1 UK Financial Services in Regulations and Ethics, CII Level 3 in Financial Administration and FA2 Pensions Administration. Becky enjoys reading, boxing to keep fit, going to the cinema and spending time with her friends and family.

Jane Huse, Office Administrator

Jane has been working with the founding directors, David & Tony, for 22 years as an office administrator and has been with them every step of the way. Jane enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.

Vicky Conway, Compliance & Training Manager

Vicky joined in March 2017 and has worked in the regulatory side of financial advice for 15 years. Prior to joining, Vicky was engaged as a Senior Business Consultant providing business and compliance support to small and medium size independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) across the country. Vicky is a member of the Ladies Circle organization, which is part of the round table. Vicky was very proud to be the National President in Great Britain 2012.
